Rouse gets OK to wreck public works garage
The Rouse Co. received approval yesterday for a plan to demolish the Columbia Association's public works garage in Town Center and begin grading for condominiums.
The approval will allow the company to begin development of 106 condominiums on the 8.8-acre parcel bordered by Banneker Road, Little Patuxent Parkway and Broken Land Parkway.
The Columbia Association, whose public works responsibilities include maintaining the city's open space and running the ColumBus system, is moving its garage to the Guilford Industrial Center in Kings Contrivance.
The site was approved for apartment use in March by County Council members, sitting as the Zoning Board.
