The attendant at the all-night gas station and convenience store, in the 3100 block of Baltimore Blvd., told state police that a man about 18 years old entered the store about 3:40 a.m., approached her with a gun in his hand and demanded the cash from the register.

Patricia Groft, who described her assailant as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 130 pounds with black hair, said the weapon appeared to be a semiautomatic handgun.

Fishing may be OK at Eden Farm pond

Fishing may be permitted on the Westminster-owned Eden Farm pond, but ice skating appears to be out.

The city government's insurers are "very bullish" on ice skating, Planning and Public Works Director Thomas B. Beyard told the city parks board Wednesday. Mr. Beyard asked the insurance company for advice after Eden Farm subdivision residents complained last winter that skaters were using the pond under unsafe conditions.

He said the city does not have adequate staff to cover the liability issue on ice skating, but it may be possible for city police to monitor fishing at the pond. He said he would discuss the feasibility of permitting fishing with Police Chief Sam Leppo.

City Councilman Kenneth A. Yowan, liaison to the parks board, suggested that the property could become a park, part of a larger open space area between Route 27 and the county airport.
