Youngsters can make yummy works of art
Children 6 and up are invited to create edible works of art when confectioner and baker Peta Jacobs brings the popular Hansel and Gretel Christmas Cookie Cottage Workshop to the Other Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center.
Constructed of cookies and trimmed with candies, icing and sugarplums, the cottages can be used as holiday decorations or gifts.
Workshops are planned from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Dec. 7. Registration is required.

* Long Reach: 9000 block of Lambskin Lane: Two rear tires on a 1990 Dodge Caravan van were cut on Monday or Tuesday.
pTC * Owen Brown: 7000 block of Deepage Drive: Someone broke into a locker at the Supreme Court Sports Center on Tuesday and stole a wallet with credit cards and $30 in cash. Also stolen were clothes valued at $245, a $250 Seiko watch, a gym bag and a pair of glasses.
8900 block of McGaw Court: Someone entered an open bay door Traditional Floor Covers between Friday and Monday and stole a $1,500 red Yamaha generator.
6500 block of Sweet Fern: A $140 Murray 24-inch girl's mountain bicycle was stolen Monday.
6700 block of Cradlerock Way: Someone stole $42 from a wallet that belonged to an employee at Owen Brown Middle School on Monday.
* Oakland Mills: 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road: Someone pried open collection boxes to three washing machines at Solon Automated Services between Oct. 16 and Nov. 16. The damage to the machines totals $225.
