The hearing before the county Board of Appeals has not been rescheduled.

An administrative hearing officer granted Richard Fine a special exception this summer to operate a "commercial recreation" facility, including driving tees, miniature golf course and baseball and softball batting cages, on 32 acres.

Residents, worried about increased traffic congestion and safety at the intersection, have appealed that decision.

Mr. Fine requested the delay to prepare additional evidence in support of his project.

Brooklyn Park man, 19, charged with assault

A 19-year-old Brooklyn Park man was charged with assault after an incident in which a BB gun was pointed at a man during an argument Friday in the the parking lot of Marley Station Mall, police said.

Investigators said a man walked into the Hecht's store and asked a 33-year-old salesman there what his name was. Before the salesman could answer, police said, the man spat on him and told him to step outside.

When the salesman got outside, the other man pointed a BB gun at him and told him to leave his 17-year-old girlfriend alone, police said.

The men then wrestled over the gun and a security officer broke up the scuffle, they said.

Jeffery L. Vignati of the 1300 block of Hollow Glen Court also was charged with disorderly conduct.
