Bauman selected for village board

The Oakland Mills village board selected Eric Bauman to fill the unexpired term of John Lilly, who resigned.

Mr. Bauman was introduced at the Nov. 10 meeting. The term of office runs through next April 30.

Mr. Bauman, 41, a senior environmental scientist with Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., has lived in the village for about one year and in the Baltimore-Washington area for six years. He said he previously was involved in working with city and state governments in Michigan.

"It's a civic responsibility, a way to be involved," said Mr. Bauman, who was chosen from among six applicants. "It's important to be involved in community activities.

"Columbia is a unique melding of county government and active community organizations."
