The Clinical Computer is a doctor on your desk, an infinitely patient one who will listen to you for hours.
The program interviews you, asking as many as 175 health-related questions. The first questions are demographic; that is, name, age and sex. The succeeding questions are in the categories of heredity, or family health history; environment and life style; occupation; past medical history; dietary supplements; nutrition; signs and symptoms; male-female issues, and stress analysis.
After all the questions are answered, a process that could well stretch over days, the program produces an evaluation, which may take 10 to 15 minutes on older, slower computers.
The evaluation is a report of about 40 pages. The main section, "specific illness reports," goes over the serious illnesses for which there are known risk factors and gives advice on reducing those risks.
The Clinical Computer, a product of Eubionics of Santa Monica, Calif., is $49.95. It requires 512 kilobytes of memory, a hard drive with two megabytes of space and DOS 3.0 or later.
The telephone number for orders is (800) 942-4077.
