Glenelg beats Allegany to win regional crown

CUMBERLAND — CUMBERLAND -- Fourth-seeded Glenelg pounded its way to the Class 2A, Region I volleyball championship with a five-game victory over third-seeded Allegany last night.

Afinals, took advantage of its superior height against Allegany in winning, 8-15, 15-8, 15-3, 10-15, 15-10.

Marisa Davidson was 34 of 37 in hits and had 17 kills, Debbie Snyder was 33 of 34 with 15 kills, and Donna Snyder 21 of 25 with nine kills. Joy Younce had 41 assists.

"The big thing was our attacking," said Glenelg coach Marlene Janis, whose team was pushed to five games for the first time this season.
