Boy, 9, dies of injuries from Nov. 4 car accident
A 9-year-old who was hit by a car in Severn Nov. 4 has died from his injuries.
Keith Gregory Pevear, of the 7900 block of Citadel Drive, Severn, was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital Tuesday morning.
The boy was hit by a car Nov. 4, shortly before 6 p.m., when he darted onto the rain-soaked street on Ridge Road near Pometacom Drive in Severn.
He was hit by a 1984 Oldsmobile driven by Ross Larry Brinson, 16, of the first block of Otis Drive, Severn. No charges have been filed in the accident.
Department store guard claims two shoplifted
A security officer at a department store in Crofton apprehended two alleged shoplifters Monday afternoon, one who police said tried to walk out of a Kmart store wearing shoes taken from the store.
A store employee told police he watched as the teen-ager removed a pair of $30 shoes from the rack and put them on. After a few minutes, he walked out of the store without paying.
The youth told police that he was checking the shoes and simply forgot to pay for them. Police issued a juvenile citation and the youth paid for the merchandise when his grandmother arrived at the store.
About 4:45 p.m., the security officer saw a 30-year-old man conceal merchandise worth $20 under his coat and walk out of the store.
Police told the store manager to seek an arrest warrant through a court commissioner.
