Ecker appointed to school task force

County Executive Charles I. Ecker has been appointed to the governor's 20-member task force on school construction.

The task force has been asked to examine construction requests from counties and the city of Baltimore and to evaluate public school needs in those jurisdictions through the year 2001.

Gov. William Donald Schaefer has asked the task force to review current funding formulas with an eye toward change.

The governor wants the group to review the procedures and policies used by the Public School Construction Program.

The task force had an organizational meeting Oct. 12 in Annapolis.

It is scheduled to meet eight more times before June 30, 1993, when it gives its final report to the governor.

A former deputy school superintendent, Mr. Ecker has been dealing with school construction issues in the state since 1965.
