Man charged with assault, robbery
A Crofton man was charged yesterday after an acquaintance was attacked inside a yogurt shop on Defense Highway.
County police said the victim, Donna Lou Wiley, 62, of the 1600 block of Carlyle Drive in Crofton, was in the Crofton TCBY shop when a man entered at 9:47 a.m., apparently to make a telephone call.
Police said the woman was struck in the face several times with a blunt object. The man then robbed the store of an unknown amount of money.
Shawn Thomas McDonnell, 25, of the 1700 block of Greentree Court, was charged with robbery and assault with intent to murder.
Ms. Wiley was taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George's County General Hospital, where she was listed in stable conditon yesterday.
