Jones leads Bobcats to 14-0 victory W. Md.'s Johnson ties TD record WAYNESBURG, Pa.

LANCASTER, PA. — WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Senior quarterback Mike Jones passed for 131 yards and rushed for 64, and the Frostburg State (5-3-1) defense recorded its second shutout in three weeks and its third of the season in a 14-0 defeat of Waynesburg yesterday.

The Bobcats enjoyed a 364-192 edge in total yardage over the Yellow Jackets (2-7). Frostburg State got a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter from freshman fullback Andre Lofton, who gained 75 yards. In the second quarter, Jones and Ariel Bell connected on a 12-yard scoring pass.

Swarthmore 25, W. Md. 20

Jim Hunt's 2-yard touchdown run with 5:01 left capped a 65-yard drive that pushed Swarthmore (5-3-1, 4-2-1) past Western Maryland (5-4, 4-2) in the Centennial Football Conference.

Western Maryland, which trailed 19-7, took its only lead at 20-19 with 8:31 left on an 81-yard run by tailback Rob Johnson (North Carroll) that tied the CFC single-season record of 13 rushing touchdowns.

F&M; 44, Johns Hopkins 26

Bill Meekings passed for 343 yards and scored a touchdown as host Franklin & Marshall (5-4, 3-3) defeated Johns Hopkins (5-4, 3-3) in the Centennial Football Conference.

Newport News 20, Salisbury 14

SALISBURY

Freshman Quincy Griffin rushed for 80 yards and two second-half touchdowns to lead Newport News Apprentice (6-3) past Salisbury State (2-6).
