* Archbishop Spalding -- The football team closes a disappointing season under first-year coach Del Hughes on Friday at Friends School of Baltimore.
* Arundel -- With a 6-6-1 record, including a 2-1 loss in the Class 4A Region III playoffs, the Wildcats' field hockey team of coach Clint Gosnell won one more than a year ago (5-6-2).
* Broadneck -- Coach Phoebe Kelly's field hockey team lost, 3-0, to Severna Park in the Class 4A, Region IV semifinals in Tuesday, finishing 3-8-2 record.
* Chesapeake -- The girls soccer team (11-1-1) was upset by (9-3-1) Broadneck, 1-0, and the field hockey team (8-5) lost to (7-5-1) Queen Anne's, 5-3, on Tuesday.
* Glen Burnie -- Robin Kloster and Becky McDivitt continued their consistent performances by taking fourth and fifth, respectively, the Class 4A, Region IV cross country meet Thursday.
* Meade -- The Mustangs fall sports teams -- boys and girls soccer, football, field hockey and volleyball -- all had losing records.
* North County -- Seniors Shawn Moyer and Mike Hoskins and junior Chris Cosentino were named to the Coaches' All-County Boys Soccer Team.
* Northeast -- The girls soccer team was beaten, 7-0, by seventh-ranked Oakland Mills in the Class 2A-1A, Region I semifinals, finishing 4-7-1.
* Old Mill -- The boys soccer team, after losing, 5-3, to Severna Park in the regular season, stunned the Falcons, 4-0, in the Class 4A Region IV semifinals Wednesday.
* Severn School -- Senior end/linebacker Dave Lachapelle took a 38.9 punting average and 19 extra-point kicks into the Admirals' finalfootball game against St. Mary's yesterday.
* Severna Park -- Lil Shelton, the veteran coach of the Falcons' top-ranked field hockey team, said it was the goal of her girls to score 60 goals this year. They had scored 32 through 13 games (12-1).
* Southern -- When Jimmy Galvin's kick went through the uprights Thursday to give the Dawgs (6-4) a 14-13 upset of archrival South River (7-3), it marked the second time this season that his foot brought the team an overtime victory.
* South River -- Before playoff action this weekend, junior volleyball hitter Pam Patterson had the most kills (161) in the metro area.
* St. Mary's -- Saints sophomore girls soccer goalie Erin Hon had 18 saves in a 2-1 Catholic League A Division semifinal victory over McDonogh on Tuesday.
