Linganore running back John Seymour was too much for Westminster last night.
Seymour rolled up 239 yards on 34 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead visiting Linganore to a 33-18 victory over Westminster in Central Maryland Conference action.
The 5-foot-9, 215-pound running back was the Linganore (9-0, 6-0) workhorse as the Lancers closed out their CMC schedule undefeated. He carried the ball through most of two long Linganore touchdown drives as the Lancers' line gave him room to run.
Westminster's Gabe Zepp finished with 143 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns. Zepp scored on a 14-yard run with 7:03 left in the game. Later, he weaved his way through the Linganore defense for a 66-yard scoring run.
After Westminster (2-7, 2-3) scored first on a 43-yard Steve Kahler interception return two minutes into the game, Seymour and Linganore took over.
The Lancers took possession at their 47 with 4:32 left in the first quarter. Seymour ran four consecutive times for 18 yards. Two plays later, he returned, running for 10, 2 and 14 yards before being stopped for no gain on the final play of the first quarter.
Seymour then started left and cut back for a 10-yard touchdown run to start the second quarter. Josh Lonsdale added the extra point for a 7-6 lead.
Linganore scored again with 25 seconds left in the half when Ben Arneson caught a 20-yard touchdown pass for a 13-6 lead. Two Westminster penalties helped that drive.
Midway though the third quarter, Linganore and Seymour struck again. The big back ran on 10 of 11 plays and capped the 83-yard drive with a 7-yard run on the opening play of the fourth quarter for a 19-6 lead.
