* Ever wish that once in the woods you could tune your hearing to the frequencies that are common with the sounds made by game? If so, there is a new product that might be worth looking into, Walker's Game Ear.
Developed by Bob Walker of Pennsylvania, the Game Ear is a hearing enhancement and safety device the size of an external hearing aid. It is worn behind the ear and amplifies the high frequency sounds that game make. It also has a safety circuit that blocks noise greater than 110 decibels from being amplified. So a distant gobble of a turkey or deer feet crackling leaves will be enhanced and the blast of a shotgun will not be.
The suggested retail price of the Game Ear is $173. For more information, write Walker's Game Ear, Inc., P.O. Box 1069, Media, PA 19063.
* Three Maryland anglers have qualified for the Red Man Regional Championship bass tournament on Kentucky Lake in Gibertsville, KY, from Nov. 4-7. In a 30-man field, Chester Sadowski III of Baltimore qualified 13th, William Kramer of Gaithersburg checked in at 25th and Charles Schurman of Pasadena qualified at 28th.
* Scott Steele of Annapolis has been named Tudor boardsailor of the year in the most-valued-contributor category. Steele, 34, was honored by the United States Windsurfing Association for his contributions as a competitor, coach and race organizer. In 1983, Steele won the Windsurfer World Championship and in 1984 won a silver medal at the Olympics.
* Wendy Bartholomew of Linthicum checked in a 25-pound barracuda recently during the Key West Fishing Tournament and received a citation for the catch.
Fall trout stocking
This week, the Department of Natural Resources will complete the stocking of 17,000 adult trout in selected waters across the state. No closures are involved in these areas, but fishermen must have a trout stamp to possess trout caught in Maryland.
The stocking are the result of increased hatchery operations and will in no way effect spring stocking schedules.
