Second man charged in slaying at post office

Howard County police have charged a second man in a recent execution-style slaying at the Woodstock post office.

Linwood Taylor Jr., 28, of the 700 block of N. Lennox St. in Baltimore, was charged yesterday with first-degree murder, a handgun violation and conspiracy to commit murder in the shooting of Kevin Lee Holland, 27, of the 2200 block of Eutaw Place in Baltimore, police said.

Police believe the killing was drug-related.

Mr. Taylor is being held at the Howard County Detention Center in lieu of $40,000 bond.

Mr. Holland's body was found Oct. 10 about 5:30 a.m. at the Woodstock post office by a deliveryman. He had been shot several times in the head, police said.

On Friday, police filed similar charges against Troy Lynn Brooks, 28, of the 7900 block of Brookford Circle in Baltimore County, after a search of his home produced the murder weapon, a Hungarian-made semiautomatic weapon, police said. He is being held without bond at the detention center.

Both men were arrested after an unidentified source helped police in their investigation, police said.

Police said Mr. Holland apparently owed Mr. Brooks an undisclosed amount of money and drugs.

Baltimore man charged with prescription fraud

Howard County police have charged a 44-year-old Baltimore City man with prescription fraud after he allegedly tried to pass a forged prescription at a pharmacy in Ellicott City.

On Monday, Wayne Clark Still, of the 700 block of Saratoga Ave., was charged with prescription fraud, Medicaid fraud and attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous drug by passing a forged prescription, said Det. David Trapani, head of the police department's pharmaceutical diversion unit, which investigates prescription fraud.

Mr. Still is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Mr. Still allegedly obtained a forged medical assistance prescription form from a doctor at University Hospital in Baltimore and tried to get Ativan, an anti-depressant, on Oct. 13 at the Safeway Pharmacy in the Enchanted Forest Shopping Center, Detective Trapani said. The pharmacist, however, was alert and contacted Detective Trapani.
