Police seek two suspects in Westminster car theft

Two occupants of a stolen car escaped after driving the car through a chain link fence at the Sullivan Avenue Apartments about 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Westminster police said.

Pfc. Scott Mitchell observed the 1986 red Camaro at Monroe Street and Winter's Alley and followed the vehicle while verifying that it had been stolen from the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave. last Tuesday.

Police said the driver apparently saw he was being followed and accelerated eastbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, striking one car before crashing through the fence and three others before stopping.

Both men made their escape on foot.

The investigation is continuing, police said.


* Westminster City police are investigating an attempted break-in Thursday at Keith's Car Wash on 24th Street.

Mark Wadel of Old Manchester Road told police someone attempted to break into a building in the 200 block of E. Main St. on Thursday.

William J. Troxell, of the 900 block of Wampler Lane, told police someone attempted to break into his house Thursday.

Pranksters were busy in Westminster Thursday when they took a scarecrow from the front of her house on Johahn Drive, Deborah Frazier told police.

Halloween decorations were removed from the home of Cynthia G. O'Hara of Windsor Drive, also on Thursday.

Linda Keeney of Ward Avenue reported her Halloween decorations stolen from the front porch of her house on Saturday.

John McLaughlin of Sunshine Way reported someone punctured the tires of his car and scratched the side while it was parked at the Wakefield Valley Golf Course on Saturday. The damage is estimated at $800.
