Odenton Elementary students sponsoring holiday gift sale

Students of Odenton Elementary School are holding a holiday gift sale from now through Nov. 9, offering wrapping paper, Christmas ornaments, candy, cookies, sausages and cheeses. Gift brochures are available from students, who will accept orders and payment, then deliver merchandise to their customers.

In other happenings at the school: The Odenton Elementary School PTA will conduct a book fair Nov. 6 to 12 in the conference room. Sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with added evening hours of 6 to 8 o'clock on Nov. 10 and 11.

Finally, adults and children are invited to a hoedown featuring live bluegrass music and square dancing at Odenton Elementary, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 20. Tickets go on sale Nov. 6 at the book sale and in the school office.

Prices for adults are $5 in advance, $6 at the door; for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, $2.50 in advance, $3 at the door.

Police seeking man who robbed store

A man with a knife robbed a Crofton convenience store Saturday night, county police reported.

Detectives said a man walked into the 7-Eleven store in the 2100 block of Defense Highway at 10:38 p.m. and demanded money. The clerk gave the man cash, and he left the store.

Six parked vehicles damaged by vandals

Vandals smashed the windows of six vehicles parked on different streets in Odenton and Gambrills late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

Items were taken from two of the vehicles during the spree, between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. A BB gun may have been used in the vandalism, police records show.

Police approximate the damages and losses at $2,000.


* Severn: A teacher at Van Bokkelen Elementary School reported to police that someone stole her purse with $20 in it from her desk Friday.

* Gambrills: A man reported to police that someone smashed the driver's side window of his 1984 Dodge while it was parked in the 2500 block of Maytime Drive Wednesday night and stole a stereo and radar detector.

* Gambrills: A resident told police that someone smashed the windows of his 1985 GMC truck that was parked in the 2500 block of Flowering Tree Lane Thursday night.

* Maryland City: A resident reported to police that someone pried open the driver's side door of his 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Thursday night while it was parked in the 200 block of Marganza Drive and stole the stereo.
