SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- An unidentified man was shot early Tuesday by a police officer pursuing a stolen car in the 3300 block of Denison St. When the suspect bailed out of the car around 3 a.m., he was shot in both legs by one of several police officers. The name of the officer who shot the man was not immediately released. The wounded suspect was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, where he was being treated before being released into police custody. It was not known if the man was armed at the time of the shooting and details of the incident were not immediately available.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 2800 block of Rayner Ave. was in the 2800 block of W. Lanvale St. around 8 p.m. Sunday when a man with a wooden cane threatened him with injury and robbed him of $27.

THEFT: Western District -- A man known as "Wan" is being sought in connection with the theft of a 20-inch bike and $20 from a resident of the 2500 block of Mosher St. during an incident in the 2500 block of W. Lanvale St. around 2 p.m. Sunday.

AUTO THEFT: Western District -- A 1990 Dodge owned by a resident of the 1000 block of N. Bentalou St. was stolen between Sunday night and Monday while it was parked two blocks from the owner's house.

THEFT: Western District -- A car battery and stereo radio equipment, all valued at more than $800, were stolen from a car over the weekend in the 200 block of N. Pulaski St.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the first block of S. Woodington Road of jewelry valued at more than $600 Monday morning in the 1500 block of N. Smallwood St.

CAB HOLDUPCAB HOLDUP: Western District -- A driver for the Yellow cab company in the 1500 block of N. Payson St. was robbed of $12 Monday afternoon by two men, one with a .38 caliber revolver, after the men ordered him to stop in the 1700 block of Franklin St.

THEFT: Western District -- A resident of the 2600 block of Forester Ave. was in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. Monday when a man walked by and snatched $78 from his hands.

AUTO THEFT: Western District -- A Honda Civic was stolen Monday night from the 300 block of Bloom St. The car had Maryland license plates WZP-202.

THEFT: Western District -- A resident of the 500 block of N. Carrollton Ave. was about to enter a store in the 1500 block of N. Mount St. Monday morning when a man walked up to him and stole $10 from his hands.

THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered a house in the 500 block of N. Carrollton Ave. Monday afternoon and stole a TV valued at $100.

AUTO THEFT: Western District -- A 1982 Buick owned by a resident of the 2500 block of W. Fairmount Ave. was stolen Monday while parked in the 2500 block of W. Baltimore St.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Copper piping valued at $500 was stolen from a house in the 2500 block of Madison Ave. Monday afternoon after someone entered through a rear door.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a house in the 1800 block of Harlem Ave. Monday morning by forcing the front door and stole a TV and a microwave oven, all valued at more than $600.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 600 block of Linnard St. was in the 600 block of N. Franklintown Road Sunday morning when a gunman robbed him of $15.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man who reportedly pointed a handgun at a resident of the 3700 block of Ingleside Ave. in the 2500 block of Madison Ave. Sunday afternoon. The victim was not injured and charges of possession of a deadly weapon and assault by pointing a deadly weapon at the victim were to have been placed against the suspect.

ASSAULT: Western District -- A resident of the 200 block of N. Fremont Ave. was assaulted Sunday afternoon by two men who struck him with their fists and sprayed him with Mace during an incident near the victim's home.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a house in the 2200 block of Eutaw Place over the weekend by forcing the front door and stole a VCR, TV and several pieces of jewelry.

ASSAULT: Eastern District -- a 16-year-old boy walking near his home Sunday night was attacked by several other teen-agers who struck him with their fists and sticks.

THEFT: Eastern District -- Someone stole jewelry valued at more than $2,000 from a bedroom during a party in a house in 2500 block of E. Eager St. over the weekend.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Two cases of rum were stolen over the weekend from a CSX railroad box car on a siding in the 4900 block of E. Federal St.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman robbed an out-of-town resident of $40 in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave. Sunday night.

ROBBERY/ABDUCTION: Southwestern District -- A man walking in the 1900 block of W. Lombard St. Monday afternoon was forced into a black car by two youths armed with guns. During a brief ride, the victim was robbed of $55. When the car reached the 200 block of Ellicott Drive, the victim jumped out of the car and escaped.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Two men with handguns robbed a resident of the 3100 block of Baker St. early Monday morning of $10 while she walked in the 3000 block of Presbury St.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone forced their way into a house in the 100 block of S. Monroe St. between Oct. 13 and Monday afternoon and stole property valued at more than $1,200.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone broke into Mack's printing service in the 900 block of Poplar Grove St. over the weekend and stole property valued at $250.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Two men were robbed of their money and property worth a total of $730 Monday afternoon by two men, one with a handgun, in the 3200 block of Edmondson Ave.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 2900 block of Belmont Ave. of $80 Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of Ellamont St.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Property valued at $500 was stolen from a house in the 3400 block of Elgin Ave. Monday afternoon after someone entered through a bedroom window.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Property valued at more than $200 was stolen Monday afternoon after someone entered the Edgewood Elementary School in the 1900 block of Edgewood St. through a side door.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man armed with a sawed-off shotgun robbed the Sue Pak Chong grocery store in the 1100 block of Poplar Grove St. Monday evening of an undisclosed sum of cash. During the robbery, the gunman struck an employee in the face, injuring an eye, with the butt of the weapon.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A house in the 1300 block of Woodgate Road was broken into by someone Monday morning who stole property valued at more than $700 from the living room.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone forcibly entered a house in the 1300 block of Woodington Road Monday and stole property valued at nearly $900.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A woman in the 2000 block of W. Pratt St. Monday evening was grabbed around the neck from behind by a man who removed $20 from her pants pockets.

THEFT: Northern District -- All four tires and wheels valued at $1,500 were stolen from a 1992 Ford parked in the 2200 block of Clove Terrace between Sunday night and Monday morning.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A man walking near his home in the 2900 block of Huntington Ave. around 10 p.m. Monday was attacked by two men, who hit him and robbed him of $100.

THEFT: Northern District -- Someone broke into a 1987 Toyota owned by an out-of-town resident in the 3300 block of St. Paul St. Sunday afternoon and stole stereo radio equipment valued at nearly $500.

ASSAULT: Northern District -- Dennis Clark, of the 2800 block of N. Charles St., was in the 3000 block of N. Calvert St. Sunday when he was attacked by a man he knows, who struck him in the face, breaking his jaw. Mr. Clark was taken to Union Memorial Hospital for treatment and released.

THEFT: Northern District -- Someone climbed a light pole on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in the 3400 block of N. Charles St. over the weekend and stole an advertising banner valued at more than $300.

AUTO THEFT: Northern District -- A 1990 Nissan owned by an out-of-town leasing company was stolen over the weekend from the 3100 block of N. Charles St.

AUTO THEFT: Northern District -- A 1989 Pontiac owned by a resident of the 1100 block of E. Belvedere Ave. was stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning from in front of the owner's house.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 3000 block of Garrison Boulevard was walking near his home around 9 a.m. Monday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of cash and property, all valued at nearly $270.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A man armed with what may have been a handgun robbed a resident of the 5600 block of Burtis Ave. of $20 Monday in the 3800 block of W. Belvedere Ave.

BURGLARY TRY: Northwestern District -- Someone tried to break into Central Remodeling Co. in the 3800 block of Liberty Heights Ave. over the weekend by breaking two dead bolt locks on a door but failed to gain entry.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- A TV and VCR were stolen from a branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in the 5300 block of Reisterstown Road by someone who entered the building over a period of several days. Entry may have been with a key.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A truck driver for Lance snack foods was robbed of an undisclosed sum of money Monday in the 3200 block of Woodland Ave. by a gunman who threatened to shoot if he didn't give up his money.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY/ARREST: Wilkens District -- A Catonsville man was arrested Monday morning and charged with the armed robbery of the Savon gas station in the 6000 block Baltimore National Pike. A man armed with a knife entered the office about 6 a.m. and demanded money from two employees. After being given a small sum of cash, the man ran out the door. One employee picked up a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun and fired at least one shot at the bandit, missing him. Police found evidence that led them to the suspect's arrest later. The suspect was returned to the station where the employees identified him. Held at the station in lieu of $75,000 bail is George N. Lumpkins Jr., 20, of the 6000 block of Midvale Road.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- A gunman robbed Minnesota Fabrics in the 1700 block of Woodlawn Drive of an undisclosed amount of money shortly after noon Monday. The gunman, wearing an orange and green jacket, a red baseball cap and sunglasses, escaped in a red car driven by a second man.

SHOOTING: Towson District -- A 26-year-old New York man was shot in both legs and chest early today when he opened the front door of a house in the 100 block of Solar Circle. The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was taken by ambulance to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious condition. The man was visiting friends when someone knocked at the door at 1:34 a.m. When the door was opened, someone fired several shots into the house, striking the victim at least three times. No arrests had been made and police had no motive for the shooting. It was not immediately known if the victim was the intended target.
