WMC president gets new assistant
Theresa F. Bryant of Baltimore County has been appointed executive assistant to the president and secretary of Western Maryland College.
She was formerly assistant director of marketing and public relations at the Johns Hopkins University School of Continuing Studies. She also previously taught English in Baltimore and Harford counties.
Ms. Bryant has been involved in community service projects, including the Hopkins' Women's Forum. She has been a guest lecturer for the School of Continuing Studies Evergreen Society and a job and career counselor at the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
She is married to Max Bryant and has a son.
Student of month selection announced
Geoffrey A. Wire, a student at Liberty High School, was selected Career and Technology Center student of the month for September.
Mr. Wire, 18, is a second-year masonry student and was nominated by Charles Alder, his instructor.
To qualify for the award, a student must excel in one or more areas of attendance, attitude, cooperation, grade point average, character and participation in school activities.
His favorite subject is math and in his spare time he enjoys fishing and watching football. He is a member of VICA, the school's student organization.
A resident of Sykesville, where he lives with his mother, Ruth Wire, he is looking forward to a career as a mason after graduation next June.
