Make no mistake about it -- This is Halloween week!
Take the time to put the finishing touches on those costumes for the kids, make sure you buy enough candy for trick-or-treaters and plan to attend one of the many Halloween parties planned in your community.
While Halloween will be on the top of most families' lists, make a note of these additional activities scheduled to take place throughout the Central Carroll area.
During the day on Halloween from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Calvary United Methodist Church in Gamber will be sponsoring its fifth annual Calvary Caper.
A yard sale on the church parking lot and a bazaar in the Fellowship Hall will highlight the event.
Frances Fadely, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, said the Caper will offer much more.
"We will also have a plant sale, children's face painting and a special room where just children can go and make purchases," Mrs. Fadely said. "All the items have been donated to the church and proceeds from each activity that is being held [go] to benefit an organization or a committee at the church."
Coffee and doughnuts will be available for early birds and an oyster platter luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Entertainment will also be provided.
Calvary United Methodist Church is at 3939 Gamber Road on Route 91.

Boo! A Haunted House just for you.
The place is Roaring Run Park and the dates are Oct. 28 through 31. Don't be afraid to come out from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on other nights.
All sorts of goblins and ghouls will be on hand to put a scare in you, but remember -- it's for a good cause.
Cost is $3 per person and all proceeds will benefit Finksburg Babe Ruth Baseball.
Rob Burgess, coordinator of the event, said, "The money will be used to complete the fencing around a 90-foot baseball field, and we also need to put a septic system in for our concession stand."
Roaring Run Park is on Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg.
Westminster United Methodist Church is holding All Saints' Day services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.
Pastor Gayle Watson said this is the first time the church has held this type of service.
"Many of our people said that they would like to have the service," said Pastor Watson.
"The idea is for each person to bring a flower and during the reading of the Roll of Honor, people will be invited to come up to the altar and place their flower in memory of a loved one. There will be ushers and young people there to take flowers to the altar and place them for those who feel they are not ready."
The Westminster United Methodist Church is at Main and Center streets. Call 848-8325.
