Police charge Severn man in stabbing
County police charged a Severn man with assault with intent to murder after he fought with a man in Pioneer City last week.
According to the police report, Bryant Odell Rawlings, 24, of the 1800 block of Richfield Drive, and Dennis Waller, 36, of the 8400 block of Pioneer Drive, were drinking in the neighborhood last Monday.
At 10 p.m., they walked outside to talk. While they were outside, Mr. Rawlings started pushing Mr. Waller, police said, then punched him in the face. Mr. Waller punched him back and the two fell to the ground.
Mr. Waller was kneeling on Mr. Rawlings, holding him down, and told his girlfriend to go into the house and get a knife. When the woman returned with the knife, Mr. Rawlings stabbed Mr. Waller in the back and chest, the police report said.
Mr. Waller was treated and released from North Arundel Hospital. Mr. Rawlings was taken to Western District station to be charged.
Annapolis man charged with rape
A 37-year-old man was charged Friday afternoon with the first degree rape of a 12-year-old Severn girl.
Donald Douglas Poindexter, of Annapolis, also has been charged with breaking and entering and a first-degree sexual offense in connection with the same Oct. 17 attack.
Police said the 12-year-old was asleep on a sofa in a Woodside Terrace apartment about 8:30 a.m. Oct. 17 when a man broke into the room. The man tied a towel over the girl's face with a shoestring and assaulted her.
Mr. Poindexter was arrested at his home in the 1100 block of Douglas St. by county and city police.
* Odenton: A man reported to police that someone broke into his 1989 Dodge Colt Wednesday night and took the car stereo. The car was parked in front of his home in the 300 block of St. Michael's Circle.
* The Provinces: Burglars stole a furnace Wednesday night from a home under construction in the 1800 block of Cruet Lane.
