We've been watching for months all the construction at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church.
There will be a joint laying of the existing cornerstone and a new cornerstone for the Gralley Educational Wing at 10:15 a.m. Sunday.
As the congregation watches, the copper containment boxes will be sealed. Sand for the mortar comes from Meadowbrook, Woods' sister church in Jamaica.
The new church kitchen is expected to open soon, and work on the sanctuary is proceeding ahead of schedule. Completion is set for Feb. 6, but the contractors, Gardiner and Gardiner, think it will be finished a month early.
Woods member Carl Gutschick is using a computer to design the most comfortable, efficient sanctuary seating arrangement.
To augment its expansion fund, Woods is raffling a reconditioned Catalina 22 sailboat, with trailer, three sails, assorted equipment and 6 horsepower outboard motor.
