SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- Anthony Hawks, of the 3200 block of W. North Ave., was treated at St. Agnes Hospital Sunday night for a gunshot wound to the right thigh following an attempted armed robbery near his home. Mr. Hawks was shot when a gunman tried to rob him of jewelry about midnight.

ARRESTS: Western District -- Two men and two teen-age boys were arrested Monday night during a drug-related incident in the 2400 block of Reisterstown Road. Sgt. John Miller said police investigating drug trafficking about 9 p.m. saw a man throw several bags of crack cocaine down a storm drain and then toss a handgun onto a lawn. The man then ran into his house. There, police were confronted by nearly a dozen people, some of whom assaulted the officers. Arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon, possession of crack cocaine and related charges was James Rich, 23, of the Reisterstown Road address. Also charged with possession of cocaine and five counts of assaulting police was Colin Waters, 21, of the 2600 block of Garrison Boulevard. Charged with hindering police and resisting arrest were two boys, ages 15 and 17. One police officer, Barbara Sloan, sustained an eye injury. Sgt. Miller said the two men arrested were each taken to Bon Secours Hospital for treatment of injuries and released into police custody. The boys were released into the custody of their parents.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A 53-year-old resident of the 1100 block of Sarah Ann St. was in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Ave. Saturday afternoon when he was robbed of nearly $300 and a watch by a man who struck him over the head with an unknown object. William Tyler was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment of head and shoulder injuries and released.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone broke into a house in the 2600 block of Brookfield Ave. during the weekend through a rear window and stole three boxes of ceiling tiles valued at $60.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A VCR, coins and a clothes hamper, all valued at more than $400, were stolen from a vacant building in the 200 block of E. North Ave. during the weekend.

THEFT: Central District -- An AM-FM radio, speakers, leather coat and cassette tapes were stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning after someone broke a window on a Catonsville woman's 1987 Volkswagen in the first block of Marketplace.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Two men, one with a gun, robbed a man of his wallet and $30 by two men in the 2500 block of N. Charles St. around 2 a.m. Monday.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Central District -- Police investigating a burglary at Limited Inc. in the 100 block of W. Lexington St. early Sunday morning arrested a man found hiding under an air conditioning unit on the roof. Nearby, police found property valued at $700 that had been taken from the business. Charged with burglary was Derick R. Coe, 27, of the 4500 block of Bonner Road. Police said the suspect is being investigated in connection with similar burglaries in the downtown area.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A woman, 32, walking in the 1400 block of Brevard St. around 6 a.m. Monday was robbed of her purse and a $300 money order.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A gunman robbed a man, 31, of his wallet and $124 about 6 a.m. Monday in the 1600 block of N. Calvert St.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone broke into the Chester grocery store in the 2400 block of St. Paul St. Monday morning by cutting a hole in the roof and stole 16 cartons of cigarettes, 50 bottles of cold medicine, postage stamps and cash, all valued at $740.

THEFT: Central District -- Stereo equipment and a compact disc player valued at $1,700 were stolen from a house in the 1800 block of Druid Hill Ave. last week after someone entered with a key.

ROBBERY/ABDUCTION: Central District -- An out-of-town resident was abducted Monday morning by a gunman who forced him to drive to east Baltimore where he was robbed of $50. The victim, a contracting firm mechanic, was in the 100 block of W. Lexington St. at 11:20 a.m. when a gunman forced his way into his truck and told him to drive away. In the 400 block of N. Chester St., the gunman robbed the victim of $50 before jumping out of the truck and escaping.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A 35-year-old resident of the 800 block of Newington Ave. was robbed of $20 by a gunman in the 800 block of Whitelock St. early Monday morning.

THEFT: Central District -- A window of a Sykesville resident's 1988 Mazda was smashed and two cameras, a telephone answering machine and a fax machine, all valued at $1,300, were stolen in the 200 block of Clay St. Monday afternoon.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A resident of the 1000 block of Argyle Ave. was walking in the 600 block of W. Hoffman St. Saturday night when a gunman robbed him of $22, a bag containing groceries and a set of keys.

THEFT: Western District -- Someone broke into a truck owned by United Artist Cable TV in the 2500 block of Kirk Ave. while it was parked in the 100 block of N. Fremont Ave. Monday and stole 10 cable boxes valued at $2,500.

BURGLARY: Western District -- More than $200 was stolen Monday morning from a house in the 1700 block of Edmondson Ave. after someone entered by forcing the rear door.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 1600 block of N. Gilmor St. of $550 around 7 p.m. Monday while the victim walked less than a block from his home.

BURGLARY: Western District -- More than $1,000 was stolen from a safe Monday morning after someone broke into the Candy Bar, a tavern in the 1100 block of N. Monroe St. by forcing a rear door.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a house in the 800 block of N. Fremont Ave. Monday through a rear window and stole $30.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 700 block of Brantley Ave. of his leather jacket, ring, watch and $40 Saturday night while the victim was walking in the 2800 block of Westwood Ave.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A typewriter, answering machine, shoes and $600 were stolen Monday morning from a home in the 3900 block of Harlem Park Ave. by someone who entered through a rear door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Cash and liquor, all valued at nearly $650, were stolen Monday morning after someone broke into Turner's liquors in the 3000 block of Greenmount Ave. by cutting a hole in the floor of a vacant apartment above the store.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A man who broke into a house in the 400 block of E. 26th St. was scared away early Monday morning when the occupant entered the kitchen and found the intruder standing there.

THEFT: Northern District -- A multispeed bike valued at more than $400 was stolen over the weekend from the rear yard of a house in the 5300 block of Tilbury Way.

THEFT: Northern District -- Several sections of copper downspouting valued at $300 were stolen Monday morning from the side of a house in the 5500 block of Kemper Road. Two men seen running from the house were being sought.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- An undisclosed sum of money and several money orders were stolen over the weekend after someone broke into Miller's liquors in the 3300 block of Greenmount Ave. by forcing the front door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A tape recorder valued at $500 was stolen last week after someone broke into an office at Johns Hopkins University.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke into a house in the 2600 block of Oakley Ave. between Sunday and Monday by opening a kitchen window and stole a handgun, TV and microwave oven, all valued at more than $1,000.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 2800 block of St. Paul St. was walking near her home Monday afternoon when she was approached from the rear by a man who stole her purse containing $25 and fled.

THEFT: Northern District -- A man is being sought in connection with the theft over the weekend of several coins and a watch from a house in the 3700 block of Keswick Road. The property was valued at nearly $300.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke into a house in the 2700 block of Woodland Ave. Monday afternoon through the basement window and stole a TV and several power tools, all valued at $500.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man armed with a sawed-off shotgun robbed two men of their money and property Sunday night in the 4000 block of Massachusetts Ave. Taken from a resident of the 2800 block of Elgin Ave. was money and jewelry. From a resident of the 200 block of S. Loudon Ave., the gunman took cash and a coat. The value of the property was not known.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone broke into the warehouse of Standard Supplies in the 1200 block of DeSoto Road over the weekend after cutting the wires to the burglar alarm and stole tools of unknown value.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 2100 block of Ramsay St. was walking in the 2000 block of Frederick Ave. Monday afternoon when a man walked up from behind and stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $500.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A man armed with TC sawed-off shotgun robbed the Harford Amoco service station in the 6800 block of Harford Road around 4 a.m. Monday of more than $100 after ordering an attendant to give him the contents of the cash register.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke into a house in the 3100 block of Ravenwood Ave. over the weekend and stole a shag carpet valued at $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A man known as "John" is being sought in connection with the robbing a resident of the 500 block of N. Belnord St. of his tennis shoes, valued at $74, Monday afternoon while the victim was away.

Baltimore County

FALSE REPORT: Essex District -- Charges of making a false police report were expected to be placed against an Essex man who told police that two men, one with a handgun, forced their way into his car at Kingston Road and Eastern Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and forced him to drive them to the Martin Marietta plant near Middle River. The man told police that one of the men struck him with the gun before he was forced from his 1989 Pontiac. The man walked home and reported the incident. Later, the car was recovered near the U.S. Post Office on Wilson Point Road. Police said the man had been drinking and that he may have fabricated the story to cover up his having an accident with his car that resulted in damage to the vehicle.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Two men walked into the Sea King seafood store in the 5200 block Baltimore National Pike, around 9 a.m. Monday and ordered two employees onto the floor. After taking an undisclosed sum of money from at least one cash register, the unarmed men fled.

ROBBERY: Garrison District -- A Randallstown man was robbed of his wallet and prescription medicine around noon Monday by two men, one of whom appeared armed, shortly after he got off an MTA bus at Liberty and Milford Mill roads. After taking the victim's property, one of the men struck him in the face.
