Baseball tourney begins tonight


The eight-team Mid-Atlantic Fall Baseball Tournament, sponsored by the Baltimore Orioles and the Frederick Keys, opens with four games tonight in Anne Arundel County and will run through Sunday, with the final at 4:30 p.m. at Joe Cannon Stadium in Harmans.

Tonight, the defending champion Oriolelanders take on Chaney Enterprises of Charles County at 5 at Northeast High, with the Yankee Rebels of Baltimore following at 8 against Adams County, Pa.

The Little Orioles of Anne Arundel County open the doubleheader at Cannon at 5 tonight against Northern Virginia. At 8, Harrisburg, Pa., will play Brooklawn, N.J..

Winners-bracket games in the double-elimination tournament are set for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Anne Arundel CC and Arundel High, with losers-bracket games at 10 a.m. at Catonsville CC and Northeast.

Arundel High and Northeast will be host of 2 p.m and 8 p.m. games with a semifinal game at 11 a.m. Sunday at Arundel High.
