Vandals destroy 60 mailboxes
Vandals using a baseball bat smashed about 60 mailboxes in Crownsville, Millersville and Crofton over the weekend.
Residents called police Sunday when they noticed the mailboxes, all located at the end of driveways, had been destroyed.
In Crofton, the mailboxes were in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Road, the 1700 block of Mayfair Road and the 900 block of Coachway Drive. In Crownsville, mailboxes were destroyed in the 600 and 700 blocks of Herald Harbor Road and the 500 block of Palisades Blvd. In Millersville, boxes were destroyed in the 1200 block of Dicus Mill Road, police said.
A Crofton woman told police she heard a noise outside at 4:20 a.m. Sunday and saw a small blue station wagon driving slowly by her house. She heard a loud bang and saw someone hanging out the window of the car, possibly with a baseball bat in his his hand.
Police believe a group of teen-agers is responsible for the damages.
