Looking for something interesting to do on a Sunday afternoon? Why not attend the second annual Anne Arundel County Police Department D.A.R.E. Officer's Bike-A-Thon? The event begins at noon Sunday at the B & A Trail at Route 50 and Winchester Road, and ends 13 miles later at the Glen Burnie Improvement Association.
D.A.R.E. officers will answer questions concerning the program. Free hot dogs and sodas will be given at the end of the trail. D.A.R.E. students and alumni can participate. Don't forget to wear your D.A.R.E. T-shirts.

North County High School news: Last summer, German teacher Maureen Helinski and nine students traveled to Freiburg, Germany. The students lived with German families and attended classes at a German high school. This week through Nov. 11, 21 German students and two teachers will stay with North County families. They will visit such famous places as Washington and Williamsburg. We welcome them.
All public school students will be dismissed two hours early on Wednesday for teachers in-service day.

The Belle Grove Improvement Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Belle Grove Elementary School multipurpose room. Capt. Gary Barr, of the county police department's Northern District, will be the guest speaker.
New members are always welcome to join the association.

Harbor Hospital Center news: The center is seeking volunteers to assist the nursing staff in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit waiting room. Duties include updating families on patients' conditions, restocking nursing supplies and assisting at the nursing station. Do you enjoy walking? Why not join the Crop Walk sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance of Brooklyn-Curtis Bay? The walk will begin between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Third Street and Washburn Avenue. Participants walk 5 kilometers, returning to the church. If you can't walk, show your support by sponsoring someone who is walking. Proceeds will benefit the community's needy.
