Rosecroft race ends in 3-way tie

THE BALTIMORE SUN

FORT WASHINGTON -- Nate The Great, TE's Mac and Supporting Cast hit the wire together last night, marking the first triple dead heat to win in Rosecroft Raceway history and only the 17th in the history of the sport.

The drivers were veterans Eddie Davis and Jim Morrill Sr. and apprentice Lawrence Gannon, whose Nate The Great went off at 70-1.

"I thought Jim Morrill and Supporting Cast got me at the wire," Gannon said. "He was parked every step of the mile and was still coming at me."

Morrill Sr. said: "Eddie told me he got me by a head. And I thought I beat him and Gannon."

Davis, one of nine harness drivers with more than 5,000 wins, said: "I thought I had the momentum and was there by a head. I guess that's just racing."
