Glenelg Country School, on Folly Quarter Road in Glenelg, will play host to a field hockey scrimmage between teams from Lithuania and Russia at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 8 on the school's front field.
Both teams, Tauras of Lithuania and Tiratex of the Republic of Russia, are playing the scrimmage before competing in the 28th annual John F. Kennedy Memorial International Field Hockey tournament this weekend near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.
Kingdon Gould Jr., founder of Glenelg Country School, Chairman of the school's Board of Trustees, and former ambassador to the Netherlands and Luxembourg, has organized the tournament since 1978.
Carrie Barbash, a junior at Glenelg Country School, will sing the National Anthem at the tournament Saturday.
The Thursday scrimmage is open to the public.
