Corriveau previously played in the Capitals' organization from 1985 until March 1990, when he was traded to the Hartford Whalers for goaltender Mike Liut. He was reacquired from Hartford Aug. 20 to complete the trade in which Washington received Mark Hunter for Nick Kypreos. Last season Corriveau had 12 goals and eight assists in 38 games with the Whalers.
The Capitals also received bad news on the injury front yesterday.
Defenseman Dimitri Khristich suffered a broken right foot in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Flyers in Philadelphia. Khristich was hurt blocking a shot and is expected to be out four to six weeks. Also, it was discovered that defenseman Sylvain Cote will miss two to three weeks because of a broken left hand suffered Sept. 25 against the Boston Bruins.
