The word "labor" is defined as physical or mental exertion. So why call a day set aside for goofing off, "Labor Day?"
Frankly, hearing the word labor instantly reminds one of childbearing. Renaming this day something like L.S.F. Day (Last Summer Fling) is much more practical.

Belle Grove Elementary School news: Parents are invited to attend Back-to-School Night at 7 o'clock tonight. A brief PTA meeting will begin the night. Parents will vote on the budget and receive a packet of plans for the upcoming year.
Following the meeting, parents will visit with their child's teacher. All students whose parents attend Back-to-School Night will have their names entered in a drawing for a special prize. Be sure to enter your child's name.
* PTA memberships for the 1992-93 school year are now being collected. Dues are $2 per person. Join your PTA now and become involved.

While you're there, pay your PTA membership dues and become active in the PTA. Dues are $3 per family. The grade with the highest membership will receive a cash prize.

Harbor Hospital Center news: In a continuing effort to make mammograms affordable for all women, the hospital is offering a mammogram, breast exam and breast self-exam education for a maximum cost of $45.
Financial arrangements are available for eligible participants. All exams are performed by registered and licensed radiologic technologist using top-rated mammography equipment.

* Arm-in-Arm, a free support group for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, allows members to share their feelings and experiences about breast cancer.
