Coach: Mark Cates, first year
1991 record: 1-9
Returnees: Seniors Travis Hairston (RB), Wesley Garrison (RB/S), Sammy Kang (FB/LB), Phil Tonkins (QB), Rich McCampbell (G/DL), Brad Hudson (T/DL), Mike Fadrowski (TE/LB), Dan Hodges (G/DL), Steve Cugle (DL/TE), Greg Toney (DB/WR), Al Fannell (T/DT).
Newcomers to watch: Senior Masai Demus (WR), Junior Jermaine Thomas (WR), Sophomore Jason Robertson (T), Mike Tittsworth (FB/DL), Nick Canjea (LB).
Coach's outlook: "What I've got this year that we've never had is numbers at the skill positions. We've also got more speed than we've ever had. But I don't know how anyone could be younger. I'm looking to win a second game."
Howard County Sun outlook: The Vikings return five starters, including the solid backfield tandem of Hairston and Kang, who also is an underrated linebacker. Hebron also will rely on big contributions from Garrison and McCampbell, who were injured most of last year. This is a rebuilding year, and judging by Hebron's 35-man turnout -- 11 higher than last year -- Cates may have good reason to be excited about the future.
