Baltimore man killed in traffic accident

A Baltimore man was killed Tuesday morning when the car he was driving ran off the road and plowed into several trees on Md. 100 in Pasadena.

Thomas Joseph Wilson, 56, of the 1000 block of South East Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival at North Arundel Hospital after the 11:35 a.m. accident, police said.

Mr. Wilson was driving a 1990 Chevrolet station wagon north on Md. 10 near westbound Route 100 when the car swerved off the road and into a guard rail.

Police accuse teen of attempted theft

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Calvert County for allegedly trying to steal a cassette tape from an off-duty Metro Transit police officer outside a Crofton convenience store late Tuesday night.

The youth was charged with armed robbery, county police said.

County police said Tracy Everett, 21, of Bowie, was getting into his car at 7-Eleven store at 11:15 p.m. when a teen-ager walked up to him and told him he wanted the tape in his car.

Officer Everett refused and the teen-ager punched him in the face, the police report said.

Police seek two for starting fire

County police were looking yesterday for those responsible for setting fire to a chair in the parking lot of a Pasadena grocery store Monday.

According to the police report, someone had dumped several pieces of furniture near a large trash bin outside Lauer's Super Thrift in the 8000 block of Edwin Raynor Boulevard.

At 7:30 p.m., two boys took one of the chairs and pulled it toward the end of the parking lot and set it on fire, the police report said.

Firefighters save Annapolis woman

A 43-year-old Annapolis woman was rescued from a smoky blaze in her kitchen by two neighbors yesterday morning.

Karen Trent of the 600 block of Rosedale St. was pulled from her apartment at about 7:30 p.m. after the neighbors noticed smoke pouring out of the door. She was flown by police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

Fire officials were investigating the blaze yesterday.

Annapolis man charged with rape

Annapolis police arrested a 54-year-old man on rape charges yesterday and are investigating the report of another rape Tuesday night

A 25-year-old woman told police that she was raped by a man who gave her a ride from Old Solomons Island Road to Bywater Road. She walked to the Forest Drive fire station for help and reported the rape about 9:30 p.m. after being treated at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.

About an hour later, a 39-year-old woman told police that she was raped by a man who picked her up on Main Street and took her to a nearby hotel.

Police charged Harold L. Bragg, 54, of the 200 block of Main Street, with that rape. He was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. and held on $7,500 bond.
