The Odenton Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary is holding a sport card show 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 at the hall on Route 175. Sixty tables are available at $20 each.

The Retired Officers' Wives' Club of Fort Meade is taking reservations for a Sept. 13 trip to the Kennedy Center, for its annual Open House and Arts Festival.
Some of the area's finest performers will be featured during a day-long free celebration of music, dance and drama. Transportation is $16; the bus leaves at 11 a.m. from the Fort Meade Officers' Club.

Plans are well under way for the renovation of Odenton's first bank, which will become headquarters for the Odenton Heritage Society. To hear more about this project, plan to attend the society's next meeting, set for 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Odenton Library.
Membership for the society is $10 for a single per year, $15 per couple. Membership is not required for any of the events or meetings that the club conducts.
The Piney Orchard Ice Arena, 8781 Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton, is playing host to quite a few events in the coming weeks:
* The Chesapeake Chiefs will have fall hockey registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Arena. Registration will include travel hockey programs and the Initiation In House hockey program. For further information, call 672-7061.
* TAdult Pick Up Hockey will resume on Thursday mornings from 6:30 to 8 a.m., starting Aug. 27. Adults 18 and older can participate in this no-check, modified slap-shot program. * Special end-of-summer public skating sessions have been scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 27, and Sept. 1, 3, 8, 10 and 15. Admission is $4 for ages 12 and over, $3 for children 11 and under. For more information, call 672-7013.
There is still time to join the golf class taught by Ed Dosek of Crofton at the O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road. The fall class begins Sept. 7 and continues through Oct. 20.
Every Tuesday for seven consecutive weeks, from 10 a.m. to noon, beginners will learn the basics, intermediate golfers will brush up on their techniques and everyone will have an enjoyable morning at the Fort Meade golf course.
For senior center members currently registered in community college classes, there will be no additional tuition fees. Others will need to pay a $20 administration fee to the college.
