A comprehensive listing of all New York, NASDAQ National Market and American Exchange stocks appears in today's Sun. In addition to Friday's trading information, which has always appeared in Saturday editions, we have included weekly trading results -- a day earlier -- in the same table. This listing also includes dividend, yield and price-earnings information. A cumulative list of all the week's dividend declarations also appears in a separate table today. Daily mutual fund results do not appear today; an expanded mutual fund table will be in The Sun tomorrow.

Other changes, also begun this week, include:

A summary of the day's business news and stock market activity on the back page of this section, along with a listing of how stocks of local interest fared yesterday.

A local column each day. Today's column is about consumer goods and marketing.

The reduction or elimination of some investment listings, including options, commodities and corporate bonds. These items can be ordered each day for free from The Sun's new SunFAX service, described inside this section.

Today's consolidated stock listings replace weekly stock tables that had appeared in The Sun on Sunday. In their place, The Sun will begin tomorrow to publish new weekly listings for mutual funds that identify each fund's investment objective, such as growth or income, and provide performance ratings for all funds within those 16 investment-objective categories. A new weekly listing of U.S. securities prices also will appear tomorrow.

The new weekend tables contain much more information than our previous investment listings did. But, as with all changes, they may at first appear more difficult to use than our old listings were. Each of these tables includes an illustrated explanation to guide you through the new listings and answer your questions. But if you need further information about the listings, please call us Monday (after 10 a.m.) at 332-6400 and we'll do our best to help you out.
