Stuhler the winner at Grove Speedway Hampstead's Schaffer captures third pace


Westminster's Gary Stuhler continued his winning season with a victory at Williams Grove Speedway Aug. 7.

Stuhler won the super stock late-model feature as well as winning the heat.

Hampstead's Charlie Schaffer took third place in the same race to continue his impressive season.

The following night, Stuhler finished third in the 72-lap Paul Jonson Memorial for late models at the Winchester (Va.) Speedway.

Schaffer placed fifth in the Johnson memorial.

* Cris Eash, a former Woodbine resident now residing in Hanover, Pa., was sixth in the super sprint feature at Susquehanna Speedway last Sunday.

Eash found the going a little tougher two nights earlier with a seventh-place finish at Williams Grove in another super sprint feature.

* At Trail-Way Speedway Aug. 8, Mike Stull of Westminster claimed third place in the 20-lap micro sprint feature.

Another Westminster resident, Brad McClelland, crossed the finish line fifth just two places behind Stull.

Greg Messersmith of Hampstead was seventh in the 8-cylinder stock feature at Trail-Way.

* Manchester's Jesse Wentz was ninth in the super sprint feature at Susquehanna Speedway last Sunday.

* In action at Mason-Dixon Dragway, Woody Etzler of Mount Airy won a quarter final heat in his 80 Arrow "Sawdust Jr." Etzler had an elapsed time of 9.39 after an estimated dial in of 9.38.
