Expo '92 deadline
The deadline to reserve booth space at the Anne Arundel Business-to-Business Expo '92 is Aug. 26.
Sponsored by the Anne Arundel Trade Council and the Chamber of Commerce for Anne Arundel County, Expo '92 will feature space for 136 exhibits including new business mini-booths available to companies that have begun operation since Jan. 1, 1990. The expo is scheduled for Sept. 18.
Trade Council mixer
The Anne Arundel Trade Council will sponsor a Business Mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Conte Building, 116 Defense Highway, Annapolis.
The mixer will be co-sponsored by Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems; Burch, Rhoads and Loomis; Joseph and Anthony Conte; Jan Ferguson Inc.; Maryland National Bank; David S. O'Brien; and Second Set of Hands.
The Trade Council is asking for attendees to bring contributions new school supplies to the mixer. Contributions will go to the council's back-to-school drive for needy youth.
Paid reservations for members are $8.50 before Friday and $11 at the door. Non-member registration is $20.

Women's club dinner
The Christian Business and Professional Women's After 5 Club's "Beauty and the Heat" Dinner is at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Chartwell Country Club, Severna Park.
Special feature this month will be tips on "Sunsational" skin care.

A Maryland Department of the Environment official will discuss the requirements of the Clean Air Act at a free program sponsored by the Anne Arundel Trade Council at 9 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Trade Council offices, Ritchie Highway.
The briefing, for employers of 100 or more employees and those with fleets of 10 or more vehicles, will cover the 1990 federal Clean Air Act Amendments.

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Business Connection from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton.
Organized by Piney Orchard Ice Arena, special guests will include a player from the Washington Capitals and vice president and general manager David Poile, who is the honorary chairman of the chamber's membership campaign.

The Anne Arundel Trade Council will have its next Power Breakfast Network from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Aug. 19 at Wayson's Corner Restaurant, in Lothian.
The program will begin with breakfast and informal networking. Participants can make their own three-minute table presentations covering personal introductions, company products/services and client base.

Cable rate increase
North Arundel CATV Inc. announced that effective Sept. 1, it will be increasing the monthly rate for Expanded Basic service from $20.40 to $22.15, and the monthly rental for a remote-control unit from $3 to $4.
The company has completed installation of its status monitoring system and battery standby power to help eliminate service interruptions. In addition, it will be completing installation of fiber optic trunk cable to further improve reliability and quality of picture for more than 16,000 subscribers in Glen Burnie and Pasadena. More than 500 commuters who work in the BWI Employment area in Anne Arundel County have registered for a new transportation program called the Guaranteed Ride Home.
Offered by the Greater BWI Commuter Transportation Center, the program gives area commuters free taxi and rental-car rides home during emergencies and unscheduled overtime. The taxi or rental car is available 24 hours a day. Information: 859-1000
