THE BALTIMORE SUN

Here's what to look for if you are traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

New highway projects

I-695 interchange at Interstate 83 (Jones Falls Expressway) -- Maintenance work will be under way on two lanes of the inner loop of I-695 at I-83 near Thornton Road until noon today. To accommodate the construction, the right-hand lane of the northbound I-83 ramp will be closed. The slow lane of I-695's inner loop at I-83 also will be closed. This will allow traffic from the ramp to flow unhindered onto the Beltway. The two right lanes of the Beltway at Thornton Road will be closed for bridge repairs. Access to northbound I-83 will not be obstructed.

Route 175, from U.S. 1 to Gateway Drive -- Continuing through the fall, repaving will require single-lane closures during off-peak hours. All lanes will remain open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
