Majorettes' flea market seeks vendors


The Imagination Majorettes of Odenton will hold a craft and flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 26 at the First Lutheran Evangelistic Church on the corner of Odenton Road and Piney Orchard Parkway. Spaces are available for $15, and some spaces with tables are available for $20.

The Chapelgate Community Association will hold a community picnic and fun day from noon until 5 p.m., Aug. 15 at the Greater Odenton Recreation Council (GORC) park. There is no charge, but bring your own food and drinks. A grill will be available for anyone who needs one. Several drawings will take place for children and adults. Prizes include two tickets to Wild World.

GORC members will provide some games, including a moon bounce game for the children. The council also will provide a refreshment stand for those who don't bring food and drink. A fee will be charged for the rides. Proceeds will be used for uniforms and equipment.

The Methodist Men of Nichols Bethel Methodist Church are hosts for a spaghetti dinner from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Sept. 26 in the church hall. The menu will consist of spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, a tossed salad, cake, coffee, tea and punch. The cost will be $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 6 will be admitted for free.

Tickets are limited, and no tickets will be sold after Sept. 23 or at the door. Tickets may be purchased after the 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. church services or by calling 674-6145 or 674-2272.


Piney Orchard Ice Arena is continuing the Adult Open Hockey Sessions. Participants must have insurance, be 18 or older and provide proof of U.S.A. Hockey registration. Registration forms are available at Piney Orchard.

The rules include modified slap shot and no checking. The admission fee is $5 for each session. Only 30 skaters will be admitted for each session. Admission is free for the first three goaltenders.

Players may pay in advance to reserve a spot. Players also should bring a white and a dark jersey.

Scheduled times are 8 to 9:30 p.m., Aug. 10 and 11; 6:30 to 8 p.m., Aug. 12; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Aug. 22; 10:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 23; and 8:30 to 10 p.m., Aug. 25.

The arena also is offering public skating hours from 9 to 11 p.m. Fridays; 2 to 4 p.m., 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. Saturdays; and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $3 for the 6:30 p.m. Saturday Family skate session, $4 for the remaining sessions.

Music will be provided by a disc jockey during the Friday and Saturday night sessions. Children and teen-agers must be accompanied by an adult during the Family skate session.

Hockey and figure skates are available in all sizes for $1.50.
