Four youths charged with robbery, assault

Four youths have been charged with robbery and assault and battery after allegedly attacking a Millersville man and an Odenton woman as they left Kim's Lounge in Odenton about 1 a.m. yesterday.

County police said the four youths, two 16-year-olds and two aged 14 and 17, allegedly approached Robert Costa, 26, of the 500 block of Valleywood Drive, and Lorraine Laser, 24, of the 1200 block of Scotts Manor Court, as the two exited the lounge located at Route 175 and Jackson Grove Road.

One juvenile allegedly struck Mr. Costa with a beer bottle, and a second youth allegedly pushed Ms. Laser to the ground and kicked her in the face, police said. Then, the four youths allegedly fled the area with Ms. Laser's purse and its contents.

The four youths were apprehended a few blocks away from the lounge. Police said the youths were taken back to the lounge, where they were identified by Mr. Costa and Ms. Laser.

All four youths were charged with juvenile citations and released to the custody of their parents.

4 Suspect in holdup captured after chase

A Jessup man faces robbery, theft and traffic charges stemming from the holdup of a Shell Mini-Mart Saturday night and a two-county chase.

Anne Arundel county police arrested Marvin Lee Shipley, 28, of the 7400 block Wigley Ave., Saturday shortly after the stickup.

Officers said a man entered the gas station and convenience store at 2753 Annapolis Road in Jessup about 9 p.m. and tthreatened to shoot employees.

The suspect allegedly rifled the cash drawer and fled in a Chevrolet Chevette toward Howard County, where officers spotted the car and chased it back into Anne Arundel. Mr. Shipley was capstured after he was involved in a minor traffic accident, police said.
