Bail set for 3 charged in PCP drug buy

Bail of $500,000 each has been set for three men arrested by city police and federal drug agents who seized more than 40 ounces of liquid phencyclidine (PCP) worth an estimated $50,000 on the street.

The arrests followed a six-month investigation into the importing of PCP from Washington into the city's southwest side, said Officer Darryl Osborne, of the Southwestern District's drug enforcement unit.

Charged with possession of PCP with intent to distribute and being held are Damon Simpkins, 18, of Washington; Michael Sloman, 23, of the 4200 block of E. Lombard St., and Dennis Keen, 45, of the 3100 block of E. Baltimore St.

The three men were arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of E. Baltimore St. by more than a dozen city police and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officers after police saw an alleged drug transaction at the open trunk of a parked car.

Police chased and caught Mr. Simpkins. He was treated for minor injuries. A fourth man escaped.
