NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Tim Drummond pitched a four-hit, seven-inning shutout to lead the Hagerstown Suns to a 2-0 victory over the New Britain Red Sox in a Class Double-A Eastern League game last night.
In the completion of a suspended game from Wednesday, John O'Donoghue pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings for his seventh victory as the Suns defeated the Red Sox, 7-0.
The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the regular game when Troy Tallman's suicide squeeze bunt scored Tim Holland, who had tripled. Hagerstown added a run in the sixth on Sergio Cairo's RBI single.
Cairo and Greg Roth each went 2-for-3 for Hagerstown.
In the suspended game, rain had stopped play with two out in the third inning Wednesday and the Suns (31-42) leading 4-0. O'Donoghue, picking up for Wednesday's starter, Jeff Williams, allowed two hits and struck out five. Mel Waring went 3-for-4 for Hagerstown, and Tim Holland had two hits and three RBI.
