Oakland Mills girl is crowned Miss American Teen for Md.


April Page of Columbia was crowned Miss American Teen for vTC Maryland in the American Coed State Pageant last month at the BWI Marriott.

The 16-year-old Oakland Mills sophomore will represent Maryland this November in the national pageant at Tampa, Fla. Along with the trophy, crown and banner, she won a $500 cash award.

She also was judged "the most promising model" and won the talent competition over 35 other contestants for her gymnastics routine at the May 30 competition.

The pageant, open to girls ages 13 to 15, is the young teen division of American Coed Pageants Inc. of Pensacola, Fla. Contestants are judged on the basis of an interview, interview appearance and appearance in evening wear.

At Oakland Mills High School April is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, the girls gymnastics team, and has participated in dance productions of "Mime, Mood and Music" and "A Chorus Line." She is also listed in Who's Who in American High Schools.

April is the daughter of Ray and Harriette Page.
