Ellicott City store robbed by 2 men

An Ellicott City home furnishings store was robbed Wednesday afternoon of an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The Window and Door Center, in the 9000 block of Baltimore National Pike, was robbed by two men who claimed they had a gun but displayed no weapon.

The men, both described as in their 20s, walked into the store and demanded money from the clerk. They fled on foot.

Police reported no injuries.

Police describe one suspect as a clean-shaven, medium-built white male, 5-foot-11, wearing blue jeans and a dark polo shirt. Police describe the other suspect as a medium-built black male, about 6-foot, with a mustache and wearing faded blue overalls.

Man robbed of $5 on Stevens Forest Rd.

A 41-year-old mentally handicapped man who wandered away from his work group was robbed of $5 Wednesday in the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road, police said.

Poisonous snake bites man at Savage Mill

A 19-year-old man was bitten by a poisonous snake near Savage Mill last week.

Timothy Harris of Glen Burnie was released from Greater Laurel-Beltsville Hospital after being treated for a bite on his right index finger Thursday.

He was experiencing swelling and discoloration when treated by emergency medical personnel at the Savage fire station.

He may have been bitten by a copperhead, said Battalion Chief Donald R. Howell of county fire and rescue services.

5400 block of Wingborne Court: A 1989 Acura Legend was reported stolen overnight Wednesday.

8700 block of Hayshed Lane: Overnight Wednesday, the ignition of a 1987 Porsche 944 was damaged and a 1991 Honda Accord was stolen.

5700 block of Stevens Forest Road: Someone tried to steal a 1992 Suzuki motorcycle June 4.

9000 block of Flame Pool Way: Two men were seen trying to steal a 1988 Nissan 300 ZX Tuesday.

5600 block of Harpers Farm Road: A 1984 Toyota Cressida was stolen overnight Monday.

6100 block of Turnabout Lane: A 1991 Isuzu truck was stolen overnight Monday.

5400 block of Delphinium Court: Officers responded to a breaking-and-entering in progress early Friday morning. The suspect fled on foot.

10500 block of Twin Rivers Road: A glass front door was broken Wednesday night and jewelry was taken.


8000 block of Dorsey Run Road: A fence was damaged and an unlocked building of a gas supply company was entered overnight Monday. Nitrous oxide was taken.

6100 block of Rainbow Drive: A sliding door was pried overnight Monday. Siding and building materials were taken.

5800 block of U.S. 1: A wooden frame door of Captain Hook Seafood was broken early Thursday morning and a cash register was stolen.

7300 block of Gardenview Drive: Appliances were taken from an unlocked garage of a house under construction Wednesday night. A neighbor saw people loading appliances onto a light-colored pickup truck.

9200 block of U.S. 40: A cash register was stolen Wednesday night after a rock was thrown through the window of a dry cleaners.

10000 block of The Mending Wall: A resident awakened to find a burglar inside the house overnight Thursday. After the resident screamed, the unknown male fled with cash and jewelry.

10100 block of Hobson Choice Lane: Stereos, TVs, VCRs and phones were taken Thursday night. Entry was gained through an unlocked door.

8700 block of Town and Country Boulevard: A VCR was stolen Thursday. Police reported no signs of forced entry.

8600 block of Old Annapolis Road: A front door was kicked in between June 6 and Wednesday and speakers were taken.


7400 block of Assateague Drive: A 1981 Datsun pickup truck was stolen overnight Thursday.
