A man was found fatally wounded early today seated in the passenger side of a pickup truck in the 100 block of N. Central Ave.
A passer-by came on the shooting scene about 12:40 a.m. and flagged down a police car. The man was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he dead on arrival at 1 a.m. without regaining consciousness.
Police said the victim, Alexander Morrison Jr., 37, of the 3400 block of Cornwall Road in Dundalk, was shot five times in the upper body.
"We know from his position that he was definitely shot while seated on the passenger side of the truck," an investigator said.
Police said there were no signs of robbery and that a search of the vehicle, a green and beige Ford F-150 pickup truck, failed to turn up any drugs or any weapons.
Police said the vehicle was not registered to the victim. The owner is being sought.
A detective working the case said the truck, facing several low-rise apartments, stood between marked parking lanes on the west side of the 100 block of N. Central Ave. near the parking lot of a McDonald's fast-food outlet.
The detective said the vehicle was partially blocked from view by a privacy fence.
No residents living in nearby apartments reported hearing any gunshots, police said.
