Viktor V. Grishin, 77, who headed the Communist Party in Moscow for nearly two decades and was among Mikhail S. Gorbachev's main rivals, died of a heart attack Monday in Moscow.

Philip Habib, 72, a career U.S. diplomat who helped arrange the Camp David summit and led the American delegation at the Vietnam cease-fire talks, died Monday of a heart attack during a private visit in France.
