Man is charged with auto theft

A Prince George's County man has been charged with stealing a car and fleeing from police after officers found him in the back yard of a Severn home early yesterday morning.

According to the police report, the car, a 1990 white Nissan Maxima, belonged to a Hanover woman who told officers that Gary Alan Singley, 25, of Largo, had borrowed the car before and had offered to give her some crack cocaine if he could use the car again. The woman refused.

Police spotted the car and Singley on Richfield Drive shortly after 1 a.m. They tried to stop Singley, but he pulled the car into a parking lot and ran to the back yard of a home in the 8200 block of Parham Court, police said.

The officers heard glass breaking and thought Singley had broken into the home.

They knocked on the door and told a 31-year-old man living there to leave the house.

A few minutes later, Singley came out of the house through the back door, police said.

He also was charged with breaking and entering, police said.

Three are injured in auto collision

Three people were injured -- one critically -- Tuesday when a car making a left turn on Annapolis Road in Glen Burnie collided with another car, county police reported.

Police said Paul Disilvestri, 23, was trying to make a left turn into the parking lot of Friendly's Lounge from the eastbound lanes on Annapolis Road when his car collided with a car driven by Maria Cross, 40, who was driving west on Annapolis Road.

Disilvestri, of the 400 block of Pamela Road in Glen Burnie, was treated and released from North Arundel Hospital.

Cross, of the 13000 block of Briarwood Drive in Laurel, was in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Christopher Medvedeff, 24, of the 400 block of Cathy Court, P PTC passenger in Disilvestri's car, was in satisfactory condition at Shock Trauma.
