Dr.Arthur B. Voorhees Jr., 70, who developed and implanted the first artificial arteries in humans, died May 12 in Albuquerque, N.M., after a long battle with brain cancer. Dr. Voorhees also developed the portal-cava shunt, which bypasses defective parts of patients' livers.
