The vice presidential candidate does influence one's vote for president, according to two-thirds of the callers to SUNDIAL (116 out of 172, or 67 percent). The remaining 56 (32 percent) say the vice presidential candidate does not influence their vote.

From 158 callers selecting a Democratic vice presidential nominee, these are the tallies: Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey, 56 (35 percent); Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, 35 (22 percent); Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, 29 (18 percent); Sen. Paul Simon of Illinois, 18 (11 percent); and Sen. George Mitchell of Maine and Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, tied with 10 (6 percent).
