ASSAULT: Western District -- Police reported a resident of the 2800 block of Riggs Ave. was attacked early Wednesday in the 1100 block of N. Calhoun St. by a man and a woman who struck her several times with a baseball bat. Police said the victim was not seriously injured.

ASSAULT: Western District -- Police today were seeking a man who attacked a woman in the 1500 block of N. Bentalou St. and tried to rape her while threatening her with a knife. The victim, a resident of the 1600 block of Moreland Ave., told police she was walking alone Tuesday night when a man attacked her, forced her to the ground and held a knife to her neck while he tried to rape her. Police said the woman struggled until she was able to break free. Police said the woman sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

SHOOTING: Western District -- Police reported a resident of the 100 block of S. Morley St. was today listed in good condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center after he was shot about 9 a.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of Druid Hill Ave. Police said the assailant shot the victim in the upper left leg with a handgun. Police said they had no motive for the shooting.

ASSAULT: Western District -- A resident of the 200 block of N. Carey St. reported that a male acquaintance threw a cup of caustic liquid on her at her home Wednesday afternoon. Police said the woman received minor burns on the face, back and shoulders.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police said several men were being sought in the robbery Wednesday morning of a man in the 2000 block of Edmondson Ave. Police said the victim, a resident of the 2900 block of Arunah Ave., was walking on the street shortly before noon when at least five young men threw him to the ground and robbed him of his wallet containing about $40.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 600 block of N. Arlington Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a rear window Wednesday and stole property valued at more than $1,600, consisting of a TV set, a VCR and a hearing aid.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that a resident of the 500 block of Sanford Place was riding his bicycle in the 700 block of Cumberland St. Wednesday evening when he was assaulted by a man who pushed him off the bike and stole it. Police said the 10-speed bike was valued at more than $200.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1000 block of Braddish Ave. reported someone broke into his home Wednesday through a second-floor window and stole a VCR, jewelry and cash, all valued at more than $1,200.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police today were seeking a couple who broke into a dwelling in the 1400 block of W. Baltimore St. between Wednesday night and yesterday morning and stole property valued at nearly $400, including a TV, radio, food and a telephone.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A woman who lives in the 600 block of N. Fremont Ave. told police she was standing on the pavement not far from her home Wednesday afternoon when a man approached her from the rear and stole more than $100 she was holding in her hand. The woman told police she ran after the man but lost sight of him when he turned on Edmondson Avenue.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A man armed with a handgun accosted a resident of the 6500 block of Falkirk Road in the 2300 block of Eutaw Place around 5 a.m. yesterday and robbed the victim of more than $70.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 1900 block of W. Baltimore St. reported he was walking in the 2200 block of W. Baltimore St. yesterday afternoon when he was attacked by two men who struck him in the face with their fists and an unknown object and robbed him of his wallet and more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $3,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 700 block of Argonne Drive after someone broke in during the daytime Wednesday. Stolen were a handgun, 13 rounds of ammunition, a watch, gold earrings, a video camera and a safe.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Roland Ave. reported that someone forced their way into his home and stole property valued at nearly $300. Police said a VCR and an AM-FM radio were stolen.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone entered the 29th Street Station in the 400 block of W. 29th St. early yesterday and stole a coin changing machine. Police said the machine, valued at more than $600, contained an unknown amount of coins and bill when it was stolen.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 2900 block of Wyman Parkway reported that someone entered his home between Wednesday and yesterday and stole a computer game. Police said the property was valued at nearly $150.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested one man and were seeking another in the burglary yesterday of a house in the 600 block of Woodbourne Ave. Police said two men were seen leaving the house around 1 p.m. and one was arrested a short time later. Police said the second man escaped with jewelry valued at nearly $300. Police said the man who was arrested was being held at the station pending burglary charges.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police reported that an elderly resident of the first block of St. Dunstan's Garth was walking near her home around 6 p.m. yesterday when she was approached from the rear by a man who knocked her to the ground and stole her purse. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at about $300. The victim was not injured, police said.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police said several pieces of silverware valued at more than $1,000 were stolen yesterday afternoon from a house in the 3800 block of Greenway.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4600 block of Kernwood Ave. reported that someone forcibly entered her home this week and stole several pieces of stereo equipment. Police said the property was valued at $2,000 and that entry was gained through a window. Police said two men were seen leaving the house.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Employees of Supreme Cleaners in the first block of S. Hilton St. reported that someone entered the business Wednesday and stole an undisclosed sum of cash. Police said a man known to the employees is suspected of taking the money.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Police reported someone entered a truck while it was delivering merchandise at Jeans City in the 4500 block of Edmondson Ave. Wednesday afternoon and stole 60 pairs of blue jeans and shirts. Police said the clothing was valued at more than $3,000.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 1600 block of N. Hilton St. reported that someone broke into his home Wednesday by forcing the front door and stole electronic equipment valued at nearly $1,700.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported a resident of the 500 block of Brunt St. was walking in the 2100 block of Booth St. around 6 a.m. yesterday when he was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who demanded his money. Police said the gunman escaped with $60.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that a multispeed bicycle was stolen between Wednesday and yesterday after someone broke into a garage behind a house in the 5100 block of Brook Green Road in Ten Hills. Police said the bike was valued at $300 and entry was gained through a door.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police today were seeking two men who robbed the Beauty Mart in the 4500 block of Edmondson Ave. yesterday. Police said two men, one with a handgun, entered the store at 1:30 p.m. and ordered an employee to empty the cash register. Police said the gunman and his accomplice escaped with an undisclosed sum.

ROBBERY/ARREST: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3300 block of Mondawmin Ave. told police she was walking in the 1900 block of N. Ellamont St. around noon yesterday when a woman ran up from behind and stole her purse. Police said the purse contained cash and property, all valued at more than $100. Later, police arrested Sherrie Hendrick, of the 2100 block of Presstman St., and charged her with robbery. She was held overnight at the women's detention center at the Central Police District station pending a bail hearing today before a District Court commissioner.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that property valued at $900 was stolen yesterday afternoon from a home in the 4100 block of Frederick Ave. after someone gained entry through a rear window.

Baltimore County

SHOOTING/ARREST: Garrison District -- Police said a 19-year-old man was shot last night during what appeared to be a botched attempted armed robbery in the first block of Millgate Road in Owings Mills. Police said the victim, whose name was not available, was riding in a car operated by a friend when the vehicle stopped around midnight on Millgate Road. The victim told police the driver attempted to push him out of the car. The man reported that when he resisted and began struggling with the driver, a second man, who the victim said had been hiding in the trunk, began to pull him out of the car to rob him. During the pushing and shoving, one of the men pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. Police said the bullet apparently struck the victim's belt buckle, deflecting it away from his abdomen. After the shooting, the driver and the second man fled. Police said the victim was taken to Baltimore County General Hospital. Shortly after the shooting, police arrested a man they identified as the driver of the car and were holding him at the station pending charges. The second man was being sought.

ROBBERY: Garrison District -- Police reported a man armed with a handgun robbed Nu Look Cleaners in the 10300 block of Reisterstown Road yesterday evening. Police said a man entered the shortly after 6 p.m. and ordered an employee to give him all the money in the cash register. After taking an undisclosed sum, the gunman ran out the door and was last seen running toward a bowling alley.

Howard County

ROBBERY: Columbia -- A Columbia resident told police he was walking across the baseball field at Talbot Springs Elementary School in the 9500 block of Basket Ring Road late Monday night when he was accosted from behind by a man with a knife who ordered him to give up his money. Police said the victim gave the man a small sum of money. Police said the victim had been walking home from work at the time of the robbery.

BURGLARY: Columbia -- A resident of the 5400 block of Smooth Meadow Way reported that someone broke into his home through the sliding glass door and stole a VCR, cash and jewelry. Police said the value of the property was not immediately available.

BREAK-IN: Laurel -- Employees of McMillan Marine Inc. in the 10000 block of Washington Blvd. reported that someone entered their business after breaking a window with a rock and stole an outboard motor and a cash register.

BURGLARY: Ellicott City -- Police said someone broke into a house in the 9100 block of Northfield Road and stole a VCR and a TV. Police said the TV was later found in the back yard. Entry was through a rear patio door, police said.
