Four students from county high schools were honored by the Bob Davidson's Scholar Athlete program last night at Oakland.
Karen Fulton of Mount Hebron won the girls first-place award. The valedictorian of her class, she maintained a 4.0 grade-point average while lettering in field hockey, track and tennis.
Gerard Hogan of Glenelg High School won the boys first-place award. He is also the class valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA and captain of the chess team. He lettered in cross country and track.
Krista Fulton of Howard High School (no relation to Karen) received the runner-up award for the girls. Along with her 3.8 GPA, she placed 13th in a class of 251. She played soccer, basketball and softball at the varsity level.
John Walter of Atholton High School was the boys runner-up. He is a Maryland Distinguished Scholar Finalist. He lettered in soccer, track and lacrosse.
Both Karen and Gerard will receive $2,000 awards toward college education. Krista and John received $500 toward college.
